There were no surprises on Saturday as one of the most inexperienced sides, ranked 156th in the world, went up against one of the best sides in the world, ranked 3rd in the world. This was the tale of the Matchday 7 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match between England and Andorra. As expected, the English ran out 5-0 winners over the European minnows.

In Group I of the European World Cup qualifiers, Andorra sit above only fellow minnows, San Marino who they managed to defeat to get their only points of the qualifying series so far. Meanwhile, England is on an unbeaten run, drawing just 1 and winning 5 of the 6 previous games. The same trend continued at the Estadi Nacional d'Andorra on Saturday as both teams filed out.

England boss, Gareth Southgate fielded a team, that for all means and purposes, was a second/reserve team but they still had world-class players such as Kieran Trippier, John Stone, Tammy Abraham, Jadon Sancho, Ben Chilwell, and Phil Foden line out. On the other hand, Andorra had no recognisable names on their roster.

In what was a controlled performance, England were 2-0 up by halftime courtesy of goals from Ben Chilwell and Bukayo Saka. The Three Lions turned the screw in the second half, putting 3 more goals past Josep Gomes in the Andorra goal. Thus, Andorra keeps waiting for the elusive 5th win in international competitions.
