Real Madrid faces Celta de Vigo, the match was postponed due to the refusal of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to grant injunctive relief to the international players called up for the next FIFA window in CONMEBOL.

When do Real Madrid - Celta de Vigo play?

The match that was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday 11 will be played on Sunday 12 at the Santiago Bernabeu, which will again receive public after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The postponement is due to the players' demands due to the immediacy of the match with the FIFA date.

LaLiga's message

The entity chaired by Javier Tebas considers "not in accordance with the law in the form, in the substance and in the person who has taken the resolution" of the CAS, "to which is added that the request for the aforementioned measures has been rejected without any motivation by the court."

"LaLiga will continue with the procedures set in motion in the various judicial bodies as FIFA's decision on the alteration of the international calendar transcends the problem caused on this occasion, as it is a full declaration of intent to intervene in the autonomies of the national leagues indirectly, in a clear abuse of law," he explains.

For this reason, since the players would miss the match of the fourth matchday upon their return to Spain, LaLiga wants to "try to diminish the irreparable damage caused by this decision that undermines the sporting integrity of the competition" and therefore request the RFEF Competition Committee to postpone the Villarreal-Alavés and Sevilla-Barcelona matches, scheduled for Saturday, September 11.

In addition, LaLiga intends to modify the schedules of the rest of the matches on matchday 4: Levante-Rayo Vallecano; Athletic Club-Mallorca; Espanyol-Atlético de Madrid; Osasuna-Valencia; Cádiz-Real Sociedad; Real Madrid-Celta; Getafe-Elche and Granada-Betis.

"Likewise, LaLiga has made available to the clubs charter flights for the travel of the affected players for their incorporation to the respective call-ups. In this regard, we emphasize that, with FIFA's decision, the affected players will rejoin their clubs on Friday, after having played 3 matches, and many of them play on Saturday or Sunday, being evident that they would not be able to compete on equal terms with their clubs," said LaLiga.

LaLiga filed this request before the CAS in "defense of the integrity of the LaLiga competition and the rights of the clubs affected by the call-up of players to the CONMEBOL national teams, due to the increase in two days of the FIFA period in September and October 2021" and recalls that next October 9 this "nonsense that will affect the 9th day of LaLiga Santander" will take place again.

Which players are affected?

Madrid is affected in four of its internationals. Militao, Casemiro and Vinicius are called up by Brazil, whose last commitment is against Peru in the early hours of Thursday 9 to Friday 10 at the Maracana. Two hours earlier, Valverde takes on Ecuador in Montevideo with Uruguay. Ancelotti was asked about this question after the match against Betis. "The players arrive on Saturday morning. It seems impossible to me that they can play. It's not just Real Madrid's problem, but that of many teams," the Italian replied.
