On Sunday, Kylian Mbappe is going to have another shot at glory when he steps out for the French national team in the final of the 2021 Nations League competition. The Paris Saint-Germain forward will go up against the Spanish national side who defeated favourites, Italy, to reach their first international competition final since the 2014 World Cup.
At just 22 years old, Kylian Mbappe will be playing in his second international final match and he will get the chance to make amends for his atrocious outing during this summer's Euros competition. He already started that by inspiring a rousing comeback against Belgium in the semifinal clash against the Red Devils.
Most importantly also, Kylian Mbappe will be in line to lift his second international trophy in just 4 years of playing international football. After making his France debut in 2017, Mbappe won the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, whilst playing a leading role that culminated in him scoring in the final match against Croatia.
Kylian Mbappe would also steal a march on two of the game's greatest players, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi by winning his second international trophy. Both icons have won just one senior international trophy each with Cristiano Ronaldo winning the 2016 European Championships and Lionel Messi winning the 2021 Copa America. Adding the Nations League trophy to his World Cup title would readily make Kylian Mbappe one of the more decorated players in international football, as well as strengthen his push for a maiden Ballon d'Or award.
