As if it were a nightmare, many Latin American gamers who have just released their FIFA 22 have asked themselves: why were Brazil, Colombia and the CONMEBOL teams removed from the title?

The answer can be found right here, and while this removal of teams does not detract from the game's playability, it does prevent Latin American fans from identifying with the game.

Why were Brazil, Colombia and CONMEBOL teams removed from FIFA 22?

The reason is very simple: EA Sports does not have the licenses of all CONMEBOL teams, and therefore, teams from several countries of the confederation will not appear in the game.

Apparently, the popular video game franchise only has licenses for 3 Latin American teams: Mexico, Argentina and Brazil. And in the case of Brazil, things are a bit more complicated.

Brazil will be in FIFA 22... well, more or less

What would make you less angry, to have your country's team left out of FIFA 22, or to have it appear but with made-up players?

Well, it seems EA Sports chose the second option since we can see the Brazilian team in the video game, with their special insignia and uniform.

But with invented players. That's right, as if we were in the times of International Superstar Soccer, we will be able to choose Brazil in the game, and we will be able to make dream plays.

But with names and surnames that we have never seen in our life, as it happened with the "International" where if you chose Brazil, you could play with Santos, Beranco, Pardilla or any other.

And this problem did not only affect the Brazilian team. The same goes for the Brazilian clubs, which will have their shields and uniforms, but we will only see generic players

So EA Sports not only decided to save on national team licenses, but also decided to save on club licenses from Pelé's country

What other CONMEBOL national teams were removed from FIFA 22?

The removal of national teams seriously affected CONMEBOL and several of its teams are not part of the current edition of the popular video game.

Here is a list of the teams that were removed.

- Bolivia

- Chile

- Colombia

 - Ecuador

- Paraguay

- Peru

- Uruguay

- Venezuela

In fact, EA Sports eliminated Uruguay, the country that organized and won the first World Cup in 1930, in order to save on licenses.

And it also removed Chile, a team that has not only been dominant on the American continent in recent years, but several world stars have come out of this country.

And while it all seems to be a matter of saving money in the making of a video game, there is no doubt that the fans of the franchise will not forget the removal of their national teams.

But CONMEBOL is not the only federation affected by the removal of teams in the video game.

FIFA 22: Clubs over national teams

What has been clear for a few years now is that the game has preferred to give priority to clubs and not so much to national teams

This is because, as with real-world soccer, the public's interest is currently more focused on what is happening in their local leagues, but also in the international competitions that these clubs attend.

The clearest example of this is the Champions League, a tournament in which teams from the most powerful leagues in Europe participate, such as the Premier League and La Liga, as well as the Bundesliga and the Eredivisie.

And perhaps this is the most understandable explanation as to why FIFA 22 decided to remove so many national teams.

Although Latin American fans of the game would surely have appreciated it if the brand had made more of an effort to license their national teams.

In fact, on social networks, fans of the game showed their rejection of this decision and even suggested to EA Sports that perhaps they could integrate their national teams as downloadable content

It would not be the first time that a videogame has corrected its course through this type of material.
