Cristiano Ronaldo and the Champions League forged a love story that will be forever written in football books. It began to take shape in 2008, when the young Portuguese conquered Europe for the first time, with the Manchester United shirt. Since then, their bond has never been broken. Or at least until today, when his third consecutive failure was consummated in the continent's top tournament.

Like any story, the conquest with Manchester United began what would be the main plot of the narrative. It was thus, that the main course was written with the Real Madrid shirt, a team with which he played 8 consecutive semifinals, and managed to be crowned champion 4 times. Hence, his nickname as ´Mister Champions´ was born, which honors the respect that he earned every time he disputes this competition.

However, as in any story, there is a moment where things start to get complicated. The truth is that since his arrival at Juventus, there are only memories of ´Mister Champions´. In its first edition contested with Vecchia Signora, it achieved its best performance in the European Champions League. However, the fall on aggregate to Ajax from the Netherlands in the quarterfinals was considered a failure, according to the expectations that Juventus generated in the run-up to the start of the tournament.

However, the worst was yet to come. Last season, he failed to get past the round of 16. In that instance, they faced Olympique Lyonnais, a rival to whom they fell 1-0 in the first leg in France, and despite defeating them 2-1 in the second leg, the French team's away goal expelled them from the tournament. History repeated itself this year, with different results, but the same decline. The rival was also another, in this case, Porto. The Portuguese team won 2-1 in their stadium, and although Turin fell 3-2 in the second leg, the away goals are deposited in the next instance. Cristiano Ronaldo, for his part, is the author of a new failure at Vecchia Signora.
