"I think it's evolution, when you look at our team and those three wins, you see growth in every single game. The guys have confidence. You can't let your guard down," he said at a press conference prior to the game against El Tri.

For now, Greg Berhalter's team is in second place in the Octagonal, equal on points with Mexico, whom they will face on Thursday, March 24, but the U.S. coach is clear that this week when they close the qualifying round, is the time of reckoning.

What do the numbers say?

México 3-1 USMNT

Probability of México winning: 55%.

Tie: 26%

Odds of USMNT to win: 19%.

Betting on Mexico is a safe investment as long as you do it with a two-goal spread. Betting on USMNT is a good gamble, it pays 5 times your investment and it is a possible outcome although not expected by the statistics.

United States seeks to return to the World Cup

Four years ago, the U.S. was beaten when it was knocked out of the Russia 2018 World Cup, the U.S. team got to work, strengthened its project, and began to pave the way to Qatar, now it is a team that is very close to achieving it.

Berhalter knows that today's game is key, but not decisive because there will still be two games left and he can't forget about it. "We look at what the players have been doing with their clubs and what they will try to do in this window. If you are not playing a lot with your team, it will be difficult to play all three games, we understand that. We have a plan for these games and it's something we execute. We want to win all three games. We are going to plant a team on the court and Mexico will face them to win the game," he commented.
