Manchester United had enough of Ole Gunnar Solskjær's antics and failing times at the club and reached for their briefcase and purse to drive him out of the club after three years with nothing to show for it.
He is credited by many United faithfuls of having built and even the club in his dismissal note acknowledged that; "...all the work he has done over the past three years to rebuild the foundations for long-term success." the club wrote.
Solskjær outspent every other manager in Europe during his reign in the Old Trafford dugout having spent about £500m on signings including Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Jadon Sancho, Raphaël Varane, Donny Van de Beek, Amad Diallo, Facundo Pellistri and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The squad he leaves behind at Manchester United is worth €911.25m, one of the most expensive squads in Europe with Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes being the most valuable at €90m each.
