Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are arguably the two biggest football superstars and the most commercially marketable active soccer players. Both have remained consistently top of the game for over 15 years now and despite nearing the end of their careers, they have done enough to retain their numbers for a long time.

 

Both players are branded by the two leading football kit makers. Lionel Messi is branded by Adidas while Cristiano Ronaldo is branded by Nike. The brand pays them handsome fees so they could remain as the face of the brand which in turn generates huge revenue for the brand, both players have lifetime contracts with the brands.

 

Lionel Messi has been branded by Adidas since the beginning of his professional careers and in 2017 the deal was made a lifetime contract in which the Argentine superstar would be paid $25m every year and the brand would produce merchandise for the player, also make use of his image.

 

Cristiano Ronaldo on the other hand is branded by Nike, as it has been from the beginning of his career. He also has a lifetime contract with the brand which pays him $20m per year. Lionel Messi certainly makes more in this regard.
