When did Erik Lamela's rabona goal happen?

The Argentine midfielder, who currently plays for Sevilla, scored the legendary goal last year while playing for Tottenham Hotspur FC during a Premier League match.

Lamela's goal came on March 14, 2021, with a spectacular rabona that included a caño to the Arsenal defender and ended in the lower right corner.

His goal came in the 33rd minute, but he could not do much for his team as Tottenham lost that match with a score of 2-1.

But not everything in Lamela's match was his rabona, as the Argentine was sent off in the 76th minute after hitting Tierney with his elbow, the reason for which the referee showed him the second yellow card of the match.

The first yellow of the match had been shown in the 68th minute after a foul on Partey. However, no one will remember that sending-off, as the Argentine's goal will remain forever etched in the memory as the winner of the FIFA Puskás Award.

What has Lamela's career been like after that epic rabona goal?

On July 26, 2021, Lamela signed for Sevilla F. C. in exchange for Bryan Gil and the sum of 25 million euros plus variables.

The Argentine, who signed for the Spanish club in July, took the place of another Tottenham player, South Korean Heung-min Son

On his debut, he scored a brace in 45 minutes, but an injury in early December kept him out of the team for 4 months.

The player injured his shoulder during a training session of the Sevilla team. The player injured the rotator cuff of his right shoulder.

Lamela underwent a successful operation last December, but unfortunately for him and Sevilla, he will be out for 4 months.

So, the player may be going through very hard times now that injury has taken him away from what he loves to do most, but his goal will live forever in the historical records.

Although the goal did not help his team win the game, it did serve to give them a boost and keep fighting despite the circumstances.

Will this be the last spectacular goal of the Argentine player's career? Let's hope not and that he recovers soon to be able to enjoy his talent on the courts again.
