One of the things that Erik ten Hag will need to solve in the next few weeks are the players that will take over the spots that will be left open in Manchester United’s roster for the next season, as several players will leave as free agents.

The conditions that Erik ten Hag established for Cristiano Ronaldo to remain at Manchester United

Players like Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, and Paul Pogba, among others, have played their last game in Old Trafford a couple of weeks ago, and now they are set to leave the Red Devils once the referee blows his whistle at the end of the game against Crystal Palace next Sunday.

Ten Hag already has several names in mind to replace the players that will finish their stint with Manchester United, although he will wait until Ralf Rangnick has coached his last game to take over the team and start building a new squad.

Among the players that the Dutchman is considering for the 2022-23 Premier League season is the Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who currently plays for Serie A side SS Lazio, as he sees in him enough capabilities to replace Paul Pogba.

Milinkovic-Savic praises Pogba amidst a wave of rumors

Although the 27-year-old midfielder is a name under the radar for several teams, he has become a key player for Lazio since his arrival back in 2015, when Le Aquile acquired him from Belgian side KRC Genk for only $12.5 million.

A few weeks ago, Milinkovic-Savic said during an interview for DAZN that one of the players that helped him mold his playing style in Serie A was Paul Pogba, back when the Frenchman was still playing in Italian soccer. “I learned a lot about Pogba when I arrived in Italy, and he was at Juventus. He’s as tall as I am and has the technique and always makes the difference.”

Even if he still is under contract with Le Aquile until 2024, according to reports from Sky Sports Italia, Lazio already accepted a $68 million from Manchester United to start negotiations with the Serbian international.

Will he arrive at Manchester United?

Although the Red Devil are already negotiating with him, PSG is also bidding to aquire him for the 2022-23 season, and according to reports from Diario AS, his agent has said that they are in conversations with both teams to see which project convinces him the most.
