On July 1, Carvalho will formally sign a contract with Liverpool for a price of £5 million, plus £2.7 million in add-ons and a 20% sell-on provision.

The 19-year-old has personally met boss Jurgen Klopp and his colleagues at Liverpool's AXA training facility.

Through their social media channels, the Reds welcomed the Under-21 international who shone during last season, in which the Cottagers managed to return to the Premier League.

The Portuguese youngster is ready for a new challenge

"It's an amazing feeling to be here at one of the biggest clubs in the world, if not the biggest. So I'm happy to be here and I can't wait to get started," the 19-year-old Portuguese mentioned to Liverpoolfc.com.

"Once you hear that Liverpool are interested, there is only one thought in your mind, which is to join them and try to be in and around the team. Hopefully I can achieve great things. I spoke to everyone and the manager, and it felt very natural. When things become natural, it's much easier to make a decision," he added.
