Cody Gakpo was one of the sensations of this season in the Netherlands. The PSV player scored 21 goals and provided 13 assists during his campaign with the Dutch team, figures that have put him on the agenda of several European giants.

'The Athletic' revealed that five top clubs such as Barcelona, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Liverpool are interested in the striker, for whom they have tried to contact the player, although at the moment it seems that only Klopp's Reds have done so.

Liverpool are concerned about the possible departure of Sadio Mané, a player whose contract expires in June 2023 and who has not taken a position on the matter. For this reason, Klopp and the board are already thinking about a replacement, and the Dutchman seems a good option, given that he plays as a left-winger, like the Senegalese.

The player has a contract until 2026, which he recently renewed, but the aforementioned media specified that the Dutch team would consider letting him leave for offers of around 50 million euros. It should be noted that he does not have a termination clause.

PSV sporting director John de Jong said at the beginning of the season that Gakpo would not last long: "Of course, he won't stay in Eindhoven forever, he will go to a top club in a top league in the future. Will he go to a top club in a top league in the future? Or will that happen next summer? That's hard to say."

The player wants to play in a top league

The player seems to be in a hurry to get to the top. Reports in April suggest that Gakpo has already "held talks" with Liverpool, in addition to other big clubs.

The transfer fee mentioned does not appear to be out of reach for any of the aforementioned clubs. Unless Gakpo strikes an unprecedented deal, he will surely be on his way to one of Europe's top five leagues this summer.

Despite his young age, Gakpo has already made 125 appearances for PSV, where he made his debut in the 2017-18 season at the age of 18. He came through the youth ranks and broke into the first team in the 19-20 season when he made 39 appearances.
