The club led by Steven Gerrard defeated Brighton with authority in their visit to the Falmer Stadium with a score of 0-2, thus securing the 12th position in the tournament with 30 points, recovering, but only slightly, from the two consecutive defeats they have just suffered in the tournament.

The first was against Newcastle with a score of 1-0, and the second was against Watford, with a score of 0-1.

These were the goals with which Aston Villa defeated Brighton on the road

The duel was hard-fought as both teams are outside the top 10 of the Premier League, so both knew that a victory would have helped them to climb positions in the tournament.

Brighton's stout defense was on display from the 4th minute as Villa attempted several shots and corners to score, but their efforts were not rewarded until the 17th minute when Matty Cash struck a right-footed shot from outside the box towards the far post.

And although it was all joy, Cash was cautioned by the referee for what he deemed to be an excessive celebration.

But the Villans' spirits did not flag and although they kept trying throughout the first half, the second goal of the game would not come until the second half.

It was in the 68th minute when the Villans' Ollie Watkins struck a left-footed shot from the center of the box into the right side of the goal off an assist from Tyrone Mings after a through ball.

With this goal, the match ended 0-2, with which Aston Villa has 30 points in the competition, while Brighton remains with 33 points.

The next match of the Villans will be next Saturday, March 5 against Southampton next Saturday, March 5, while Brighton will face Newcastle on the same date.

Before the match, Philippe Coutinho celebrated his departure from FC Barcelona

Before the match against Brighton in the Premier League, Philippe Coutinho was interviewed by the media and when questioned about his departure from FC Barcelona, the player celebrated his decision as he is having an excellent season in the English league.

He said: "I am very happy here. I wanted to play in the Premier League again. I work very hard every day to play well and get good results. I really wanted to come back to the Premier League and I am happy at a great club."

In addition, the Brazilian midfielder said that the main reason for coming to the Villans was the manager, Steven Gerrard:

"I always admired him a lot. For me it was an honor to have played with him. Now having him as a coach, with the experience he has, the training sessions have been strong and demanding".
