FC Barcelona’s coach Xavi Hernandez surprised the media and the fans in the last few hours by announcing his exit at the end of the season following the bad results and the great pressure he has suffered as the club’s manager during the first part of the season, something he would be unwilling to accept for a new season.

The coach, who currently earns €10 million a year at FC Barcelona, gave his club a new and difficult problem to solve, as the Catalan club is now forced to find an elite replacement for their manager, whose arrival would be negotiated in the next few months to grant the right replacement for the next season.

In this sense, one of the main names appointed to replace Xavi at Barça would be the Spanish manager Mikel Arteta from Arsenal, given that his style of football and the fact of being a former player of the club would allow the manager to accomplish two of the main conditions set for the profile of the new coach.

Barça already started to evaluate the costs of taking Arteta to the club

In this respect, according to the Catalan journal Sport, FC Barcelona would have started to evaluate the possible costs of the operation and the potential salary they would need to give to the Spanish coach at the institution, which wouldn’t be very different from the one perceived by Xavi, as Arteta currently also earns €10 million at Arsenal, an amount which could be soon offered to the Spanish manager to continue his career at Barcelona.
