Some of the best footballers in the world are still drawn to Manchester United despite their recent struggles, and Ajax's Antony is the latest player to be linked to a move to England. Antony is one of Erik ten Hag’s top targets this summer in an effort to strengthen an attack that has lost several players over the last few months.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Antony has asked Ajax not to block a possible move to the Premier League club this summer. His eagerness to be reunited with his former manager in Manchester could put pressure on Ajax, since hindering a move to Old Trafford could have an impact on the player’s morale.
However, Ajax have placed a towering 70-80 million euro price tag on the Brazilian winger. How much Manchester United are willing to spend on him depends on what deals they are able to reach for other players on the newly appointed manager’s short list.
United have already approached Ajax to show their interest for the 22 year-old, but the Dutch champions are raising the asking price after several top players leaving the club this summer, with star striker Sebastian Haller on his way to Borussia Dortmund.
The Brazilian winger had a terrific season for the Dutch club scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists, his departure would see Ajax struggle to replace him. Even though the winger wants the move to happen in hopes of reuniting with his old manager, it seems that Ajax are not prepared to let him go without a fight.
He was also managed by Ten Hag and would bench Maguire to team up with Varane
