Although he doesn't earn the most annually in the NFL, he still holds a historic contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. Mahomes earns $45 million a year with the Chiefs. He earns $10 million less than the top earner annually in the NFL, which is Joe Burrows from the Cincinnati Bengals. Burrows makes $55 million annually. In 2020, Mahomes signed a 10-year contract worth $450 million with the Chiefs. The quarterback would be under contract until the 2031 season. It is the largest contract in North American sports, according to Techopedia.

Last September, Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs agreed to a new deal to make him earn more in the next four years. Mahomes will now earn $210.6 million from 2023 to 2026, with a maximum reach of $218.1 million. Mahomes will soon earn $52.6 million annually with this reconstructed contract. This will put him in the top three NFL athletes that earn the most annually. Despite having these two contracts, it doesn't come close to Cristiano Ronaldo's contract at Al-Nassr.
