The IFAB (International Football Board Association) is seriously considering introducing a new card, blue. The blue card would be intermediate between the yellow and the red, since it would be to sanction a player for 10 minutes, without him being able to play during that time.
The card would not be shown for aggressive fouls, but rather for protests and "tactical" fouls. "We have identified bad player behavior as a serious problem for football. We are examining what we can do through changes to the rules of the game. A scheduled sending off could be a greater deterrent than a warning. There is also a lot of interest from various parties interested in the idea that only the captain can properly approach the referee," said an IFAB member.
