The Manchester United legend who doesn't want to see Ten Hag leave this summer

Manchester United's manager, Erik Ten Hag, has been under pressure this season after inconsistent results. The club co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has been looking for ideas to improve the entire club, starting with the board. With many changes soon happening at the club, Man United fans expect Ten Hag to leave the club at the end of the season. The Dutch manager has been on Ratcliffe's good side, but the club has reportedly looked for alternatives like England's current coach, Gareth Southgate. Another coach that has been recently linked with the Man United job is Wolves coach Gary O'Neil.

A Manchester United legend who has Ten Hag's back is Gary Neville. While talking at The Overlap, Neville was praising Ten Hag and wants to see him stay next season. Neville said, "I would like to see him stay in the sense that I'm not quite sure at the moment who else is out there. If Jurgen Klopp was on the market or you could get a world-class manager in, it might be a different story. When you look at the options, we could end up with someone who isn't as good as Erik ten Hag and hasn't got his pedigree. Ten Hag also has two years' of experience at Old Trafford now. The fact he's had that good first season and then a difficult one means he should be better for it.”

Neville continued and said, "For me, I don't like the idea of him leaving and United bringing in the kind of names that have been suggested. That doesn't feel right. I would rather stick with Ten Hag and believe in him. If he has another season like this, he obviously won't still be there, but we could still win the FA Cup, and we could sneak into the Champions League."

Gary Neville doesn't believe in Southgate being a fit for Man United

While Man United is linked to names like Southgate and O'Niel as potential replacements for Ten Hag, Neville believes they are not great fits for the club. Ten Hag said, "As well as Gareth Southgate has done with England, I've never seen that as a fit with Man Utd. I don't see Graham Potter as a fit, and that's been a strong rumour, too. I don't see the fit between Gary O'Neil and United."
