Manchester United could replace Erik Ten Hag this summer for an English manager.

Manchester United has been all over the place this season, with some lows and some highs. The team has not lived up to expectations under Erik Ten Hag this season after winning the EFL Carabao Cup last season and finishing in the top four. This season, the team is sitting in 6th place but is in the FA Cup semifinals. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is ready to change up a lot of things within the squad including the manager. Ten Hag is reportedly unsure if he will stay next season despite potentially qualifying for next season's Champions League and winning the FA Cup. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Manchester United are looking at options to replace Ten Hag if they decide to sack the Dutchman.

Jamie Jackson from the Guardian reports that Erik ten Hag is to remain as Manchester United manager until at least the end of the season, with the Dutchman so far impressing Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Regardless of the impression Ten Hag is leaving Ratcliffe, the English co-owner of Manchester United is also intrigued by England national team coach Gareth Southgate. Manchester Evening News writer Tyrone Marshall reports that Gareth Southgate is in the frame to become Manchester United’s new manager this summer if INEOS decides to part ways with Erik ten Hag, but no decision has yet been taken on the Dutchman. Southgate has admirers within INEOS, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe impressed with his work with England. He also has relationships with Sir Dave Brailsford and Dan Ashworth. Southgate has featured prominently in discussions over managerial targets this summer should Ten Hag be sacked.
