Manchester United has had a very difficult season under Erik Ten Hag, and it seems that the club is set to part ways with the Dutch manager. Reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio from Sky Sports reports that Erik ten Hag is set to leave Manchester United this summer. Manchester United will play in the FA Cup Final against Manchester City this weekend at Wembley Stadium. With Ten Hag set to leave, Manchester United fans are hoping the club appoints Zinedine Zidane, who has been linked to the job for a while. Man United received bad news as to who the next potential could be since Di Marzio and Matt Law from the Telegraph report that Mauricio Pochettino is likely to be of interest to Manchester United if the Old Trafford club sack Erik Ten Hag after the FA Cup final.
Pochettino and Chelsea officially parted ways yesterday, which was from nowhere since it seemed that he was set to stay at the club next season. The Argentine manager joined Chelsea last summer and guided the team to a 6th place finish in the Premier League table. Now, with Pochettino available this summer, Manchester United feels like it is the perfect opportunity to appoint him since they have been linked with the former Chelsea and Spurs manager in the past.
A detail that could also make Pochettino the favorite to be the replacement of Ten Hag this summer is the co-owners of Manchester United. David Ornstein spoke about the INEOS owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who was interested in appointing Pochettino at his club in France, OGC Nice. Ornstein said, “Pochettino met with INEOS about the Nice job. I’m sure that now he’s available, he will be in the thinking of clubs like Man Utd... Clearly it’s one to watch.”
Manchester United are also identifying other managers other than Zidane and Pochettino to replace Ten Hag this summer. Di Marzio reports that Manchester United are interested in Kieran McKenna and Roberto De Zerbi. De Zerbi is available this summer as he officially left Brighton and Hove Albion at the end of the season. McKenna is a highly-rated manager in England after he promoted Ipswich Town to the Premier League for the first time since 2002.
