Ronaldo has many admirers in football, including legends of the game, such as his former teammate, Rio Ferdinand. Although many believe that Ronaldo is respected as one of the best football players of all time, Ferdinand thinks that some fans don't do it. Ferdinand even believes that two legends of football do not show respect to Cristiano Ronaldo, and the former Manchester United player thinks there is a bit of jealousy.

In Ferdinand's podcast, Vibe with FIVE, his co-host Joel Beya mentioned a clip of Ronaldo Nazario naming the top eight strikers of all time. Ronaldo Nazario did not mention Cristiano Ronaldo, and Ferdinand disagrees, saying the Portuguese have to be there. Ferdinand then suggests that there might be some jealousy or animosity on Ronaldo Nazario's part. Ferdinand also mentions Thierry Henry to act a similar way towards Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ferdinand said, "There is something in the Brazilian Ronaldo towards Cristiano Ronaldo, I think because of the name, as if he says, ‘You took my name,’ so I have a problem with you. I also see this thing in Henry because when I see him talking about Cristiano, he talks about him, and he is not enthusiastic. It seems as if he underestimates the importance of Cristiano a lot."
