Shared points! Man City grabs a late equalizer to draw 1-1 against Chelsea

Manchester City and Chelsea drew 1-1 at the Etihad Stadium. Man City and Chelsea needed a win to climb up the Premier League table. Man City's 11-game winning streak comes to an end while Chelsea go undefeated for three consecutive games. Man City is third in the Premier League with 53 points, while Chelsea is 10th with 35 points.
Late in the first half, Nico Jackson created this Chelsea play that led to the opener. Jackson flicks the ball behind him to Palmer and starts a run. Palmer then plays a great ball to Jackson, who runs towards goal. Jackson finds a great pass to the right side for Sterling. Sterling drops Walker in the box and shoots the ball at the bottom right corner. Sterling did not celebrate the goal for respect of his old club but gave Chelsea an important lead.
Raheem Sterling is the first player to score both home and away against Manchester City in a single Premier League campaign. Sterling has now scored 121 Premier League goals, overtaking Steven Gerrard’s tally of 120.
In the second half, Man City was more threatening toward goal and had two great chances in the first ten minutes. Kevin De Bruyne had a free kick just outside the Chelsea box, but his shot just goes over the net. Erling Haaland had a great chance in the box, but his attempt went wide.

Chelsea had another great chance in the box, and it should’ve been 2-0. Malo Gusto passes the ball for Sterling in the box, but Sterling’s shot is saved by Ederson’s foot. Chilwell also tried a shot on goal, but the Brazilian keeper made a save again. Haaland tried another shot toward the goal, and this time, it was on target, but Petrovic made the crucial save. In the 78th minute, De Bruyne passed a perfect ball for Haaland in the box. Haaland was unmarked, but his header goes over the bar.
In the 83rd minute, after a shot from Kyle Walker blocked, the ball goes to Rodri. In the box, Rodri smashes the ball towards the net, and a deflection causes the ball to go in. Etihad Stadium went wild as Man City finally found the equalizer. VAR checked for a possible handball late in the game, but it was not given. Man City rescue a point against Chelsea.
