Liverpool returns to Premier League action against Burnley this weekend looking to bounce back from the disappointing defeat to Arsenal. The Reds had the chance to go eight points clear with a win but that gap has now been closed to just two points. It will be a decisive few week in the quest to end the season with silverware, with Liverpool taking on Chelsea at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final. Jürgen Klopp's side has also learned its opponents in the FA Cup, with Southampton standing in the way of a place in the quarter-finals.

They spent millions, now the two cracks that want to leave Chelsea

The search for Klopp's successor remains ongoing with Xabi Alonso seemingly the frontrunner for the post while Liverpool is also on the lookout for a new sporting director. Those appointments may yet wait until the end of the season, at least in terms of an announcement, but there is no doubt that work on identifying top choices is already well underway.

Amid reported interest from Liverpool, West Ham is closing in on an appointment to boost its hopes of keeping technical director Tim Steidten. Liverpool is on the lookout for a new sporting director after Jörg Schmadtke's departure following the January transfer window. Steidten, who joined West Ham at the start of the season, has been linked with the post in recent times. He has also previously worked with Xabi Alonso, who remains the frontrunner to replace Jürgen Klopp, during his time at Bayer Leverkusen, where he presided over a string of excellent signings.

But according to Training Ground Guru, West Ham is set to hire Steidten's brother Moritz to join him at the London Stadium as a scout from Werder Bremen. It is suggested the move would increase the chances of Steidten staying in his current role, having been credited with the impressive signings of Mohammed Kudus and Edson Álvarez.

United will look to strengthen this summer following the recent investment from Sir Jim Ratcliffe. And it is claimed the Red Devils will move for players entering the final years of their contracts, with Kimmich among them. The Germany international, 28, has been linked with Liverpool in recent times having so far failed to agree terms on an extension with Bayern Munich.
