The Santiago Bernabeu has been renovated over the past few years, and now, with it almost fully completed, Real Madrid has invested more than $947.3 million. This includes a 30-meter-deep area below the pitch of the Santiago Bernabeu, where the grass is stored and exchanged with a retractable elevator system. Images today of the Santiago Bernabeu fixing the grass of the pitch ahead of El Clasico in La Liga this weekend showcases the different types of grass and the elevator system, which impresses every football fan.

Real Madrid could pay off the debt of the renovation of the Santiago Bernabeu through sponsorships of their kits. Diario AS reports that Real Madrid will earn more than $250 million per year only from the sponsorships from their shirts, which include Adidas, Fly Emirates, and HP. Adidas will give the club $125.1 million, Fly Emirates will pay $74.5 million, and their new sponsor, HP, will pay around $75 million as well.

After Real Madrid's epic penalty shootout win against Manchester City in the Champions League, their next focus is to get closer to a La Liga title. El Clasico will be played this weekend at the Santiago Bernabeu, which could define the league. Real Madrid are first in La Liga with 78 points while FC Barcelona are second with 70 points. Barca looks to close the gap to five points, while Madrid could extend it to 11 points. There are seven league games left after El Clasico on Sunday.
