Chelsea, under Mauricio Pochettino, has not lived up to expectations this season in all competitions. Chelsea did not qualify for Europe this season, so Pochettino had to focus more on the Premier League and the two cups. Regardless, Pochettino took Chelsea to the EFL Carabao Cup final and is still in the FA Cup. In the Premier League, Chelsea are 11th in the table with 36 points. Despite the criticism and inconsistency form, Pochettino makes a bold statement about his relationship with the Chelsea fans.

Pochettino spoke before the Newcastle United game in the Premier League, and he asked about him potentially leaving Chelsea soon. When asked if he would ever quit Chelsea, Pochettino said, "No. Why? Never. Today it is a different Chelsea. If you are going to judge us, by comparing us to the past of Chelsea, for sure no-one is going to win. No one is going to succeed. No-one is going to be nice with you."

Pochettino then suggested that the Chelsea fans wouldn't prefer another manager to him at the moment due to the project Chelsea is currently building. Pochettino said, "The fans are not going to love another coach any more [than me]. It’s a new project, and people need to understand. I cannot not do nothing [about convincing fans]. In the way they can believe in us is to win games. After Wolves, we didn't lose in 90 minutes for five games. The expectation does not match the reality. That's the problem with the bad feelings."

Pochettino is convinced that the players are behind him

The Argentine was asked if the players' attitude is poor under Pochettino. He replied, "You need to ask the players. If the players believe that with another coach, they can do better, I am the first who says, 'Look, hey,' or maybe they can talk with the owner or sporting director. The players are doing everything to try to win. Is it a problem of attitude? You can see in the way that they behave that they are behind us."
