Out of our control, Xavi has harsh words towards the referees

Xavi has some mean choice of words about the quality of refereeing

Xavi thinks referees are favoring Madrid

Referees are arguably the most controversial figures in a game. They have the ability to make or break you when it comes to important situations, and they can change the outcome with one whistle. One bad call and your season can be over, one bad call and you could be the one with the luck. Sometimes it’s a game of chance. And the referees have caused a lot of chaos already in Spain.

Real Madrid and Barcelona argue with each other over referee decisions for what feels like a lifetime. They believe one is favored over the other, and that is never their faut. The countless statements, the countless accusations, threats, fights, and so much more. It’s what makes the rivalry so good between the two but also what creates a lot of drama for the league, as we see on a weekly basis.

Today in Madrid there was some heavy controversy in the second half of the Real Madrid match vs Almeria. There was a goal canceled for Almeria over a foul on Jude Bellingham. The foul in question looked quite soft and would cancel a goal that would have seen Almeria go up 3-1 in the game and given them a huge advantage.

The main controversy however was the Jude Bellingham penalty and the Vinicius goal. Both were controversies with the handball rule. Almeria were punished for a handball that looked questionable which led to a Jude Bellingham goal. There was also the Vinicius goal that looked to hit the arm area of Vinicius, but Madrid claim it hit the sleeve of his kit.

Xavi harsh remarks towards the referees

Xavi addressed the refs in his post-game presser and said this “"I already said in Getafe that it was going to be very difficult to win this league. There are people who don't remember but I think we could have six more points in this championship. I remember the penalty in the Coliseum, the resounding penalty against Raphinha, Joao Felix's goal in Granada... They are not excuses, they are realities, 95th minute situations that always come up with a cross... There are things that we do not control, everyone has seen it today."
