Mohamed Salah had an interview with ESPN Argentina, and he was asked about his favorite Argentine player. Salah joked around, saying his Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister but he also mentioned Messi. Salah said, "My favorite Argentine player apart from Mac Allister? Messi. I love Messi. He is.. Messi is Messi, I love Messi. I love Batistuta as well. I met him once in Argentina and got his t-shirt signed, but yeah, I love Messi."

Salah is not the only Liverpool player to admit to admiring Messi; this Liverpool player is also an attacker. It is Luis Diaz, and the Colombian talked about the moment he met Messi in person. Luis Diaz told Revista SoHo, "When I met Messi, I almost died; I almost told him, 'I love you and everything,' haha. Leo has always been my reference. Leo is the best in the world. I love him. I have his shirt, I asked for it through another player, he signed it for me and put it for me: 'with affection for Luis.'"
