There are different categories of players in football. You have your average players, the good players, the great players, and then you have the best players. And when it comes to the transfer market, clubs approach players and when they bid, they try and predict what category the player will fall under in a few years times. What may seem like an overpay now, could look like a steal in a couple of years’ time.

There’s been enough evidence on these transfers. If you look at Vinicius, Madrid paid a huge amount for a completely unproven player. 5 years later it would take over 200 million Euros to even have the slightest of a chance of buying the player. You also have players like Kai Havertz who are wanted by every club in Europe, and eventually ending up at Chelsea. The sky was the limit for Havertz but four years after his move to Chelsea it was easy to say the money was not worth it.
And now four years later, clubs are lurking around Bayer Leverkusen once again for a German attacking midfielder and that player is Florian Wirtz. Wirtz has been highly touted for a very long time and had no trouble taking over Havertz once the player had moved abroad to England. He was Leverkusen’s youngest player ever, when he first scored, he was the youngest Bundesliga goalscorer ever before it was broken by Moukoko. The first player under the age of 19 to score more than ten Bundesliga goals. Tragedy struck Wirtz as he tore ACL in 2022 and would return in early 2023.
The race for Wirtz is set to be one for the ages as every club that can afford him will be in for him. The player is having a fantastic season for Bayer Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso, as they are first in the Bundesliga and will hope to end the Bayern Munich dominance within the league.

If the likes of Madrid, City, Bayern, and others want Wirtz it will cost them quite a fortune. According to BILD, Leverkusen will demand 130 million Euros.
