Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have broken many records many footballers would struggle to break. Ronaldo has many goal-scoring records, including being the top goalscorer of the Champions League. Messi scored the most goals in one calendar year. While it is expected to see two of the greatest players in football history having records no one could beat, this Manchester City player is holding a record that not many can say they have.

Manchester City has many key players on its squad. Some regard Erling Haaland as the most crucial player in the team because of the number of goals he has scored for them. Before Haaland's arrival, Man City struggled to win the Champions League despite having a strong team. Man City needed a lethal striker to convert the chances they created, and Haaland was the player they needed.

While fans believe he is the most important, others argue that Kevin De Bruyne is the most crucial player in the team. While Haaland is a threat to other teams, he isn't fully unleashed until De Bruyne plays with him. This was demonstrated in the last FA Cup game against Luton Town. Haaland scored five goals, but De Bruyne assisted him in four of his goals. The Man City team also lacks creativity when the Belgian is not present. One player that Man City has started to praise more is Rodri.

Rodri is regarded as the best defensive midfielder in the world, and the team was affected by his absence last year in 2023. Man City lost three out of four games from late September to early October while Rodri was out. This new stat backs up how important he is for Man City.

Fabrizio Romano reported that Rodri is unbeaten in 60 matches in all competitions. This is a record since it’s the most ever for a player in Premier League history. Rodri and Man City will hope to keep the record as their next game is against Liverpool at Anfield.
