FIFA announced the 2026 World Cup schedule, which will take place in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. FIFA also announced where the opening match will take place and where the World Cup final will take place. FIFA President Gianni Infantino made the announcement today, and it shocked many here in the U.S.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino hyped the 2026 World Cup at the announcement of the schedule for the 2026 World Cup. Infantino said, "Soccer unites the world. It will be the biggest spectacle the universe has ever seen here in North America." The World Cup will have 12 groups of four, with the 3rd best-placed teams advancing to the Round of 32.

Infantino himself announced that the opening game for the 2026 World Cup will take place in Mexico City in the Estadio Azteca on June 11th, 2026. This is Mexico's third time hosting the World Cup in its history. Mexico's second game will take place in the Estadio Akron on June 18th, and their third game will be Azteca again on June 24th.

For Canada, their opening game will take place in Toronto on June 12th in the BMO Field. The next two games for Canada will be played in Vancouver at the BC Place on June 18th and June 24th.

The USA's opening game will be in Los Angeles on June 12th in SoFi Stadium. Their second group stage game will be in Lumen Field in Seattle on the 19th of June. Their third game will be in the SoFi Stadium again on June 25th. The city to host the most World Cup games in 2026 will be Dallas, Texas, with nine games.
