Liverpool fans were upset to hear that Jurgen Klopp would leave at the end of the season. This seemed like the end of an era as Liverpool saw lots of success in recent years, and the club will soon have to move on with a different coach next season. While Liverpool is working behind the scenes to appoint a new manager, the club has been tracking down a former club member who has been essential to the success of Liverpool, just like Jurgen Klopp. Liverpool is trying to bring back their former sporting director, Michael Edwards.

Michael Edwards was essential to bringing in crucial players that are in the Liverpool squad who helped them win trophies. The Athletic reports that it was Edwards who pushed hard for the signing of Mohamed Salah from Roma, and convinced Klopp that he would light up the Premier League. He also secured deals for the transformative duo of Alisson and Van Dijk, as well as bringing in the likes of Mane, Robertson, Fabinho, and Konate.

Liverpool fans are happy to hear reports from Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein. Ornstein reported that Michael Edwards is close to agreeing on a senior role with FSG, overseeing footballing operations. Ornstein reported that while a deal is not yet done, discussions are progressing, and it is anticipated that a definitive resolution will be reached early next week. If Michael Edwards accepts, Richard Hughes will be set to join Liverpool as the sporting director. The Athletic reported that FSG sees Michael Edwards as the perfect candidate to put the right structure and personnel in place to guide the club through this transition.
