Jurgen Klopp's response to criticism of Trent's comments on Man City

Trent Alexander-Arnold made controversial comments on Man City's success not being the same feeling as winning at Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp gives his thoughts on Trent's comments towards Man City.

The Liverpool and Manchester City game heated up this week after Trent Alexander-Arnold made comments about how it feels winning silverware at Liverpool compared to Manchester City winning titles. Trent said that winning titles at Liverpool means more since they have a financial disadvantage compared to Manchester City. Man City players like Erling Haaland and Ruben Dias reacted to the comments of the Liverpool right-back and defended the way they won their titles. They made a slight dig at Trent, saying that he doesn't understand about winning a treble because he hasn't won one. Jurgen Klopp talked in a press conference and has now responded to this controversy.

Klopp was asked about his opinion on Alexander-Arnold's comments toward Man City. Klopp said, "Nothing wrong with what he said. One of our slogans is ‘this means more’ and it means more to us... when we're feeling that, why shouldn’t we say it. It's just how he feels, and I have no problem. I'm pretty sure he showed respect".

The German coach also spoke about Anfield's atmosphere and what he expects from the Liverpool fanbase at the stadium against Man City. Klopp said, "Am I allowed to say Anfield atmosphere is second to none or is everyone going to be offended by that? It is really good, energising. These are the games you want to play."

Klopp also insisted that if Liverpool were to beat Man City, it wouldn't be a title-winning game. Klopp said, "Big game, like always. Title race decider? Too early, but it's massive. We don't hide that we want to win, but we know how difficult it is. City games are big games, always. We're always, probably always will be. I don't think after any result, anyone should open a bottle of champagne. It's 3 points."
