Since Cristiano Ronaldo decided to embark on his Saudi Arabian adventure, the Saudi Pro League has been joined by other big stars and one of the most eye-catching signings was Neymar's move to Al-Hilal. The Brazilian opted to become one of the highest paid players in the world and left European soccer in the summer of 2023 after spells with FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

There is no doubt that Neymar is one of the most talented players in the modern history of soccer, since he was very young he showed that he had great qualities and that is why he caught the attention of many clubs in Europe when he was just a youngster. We all know that in the end he ended up signing for Barcelona, but what few know is that he could also have become a Bayern Munich player.

This was revealed by Élber Giovane de Souza, a former Bayern scout in South America, who revealed that he discovered Ney when the Brazilian star was about 15 years old and raised him as a transfer possibility to Bayern. "It was the Sao Paulo Cup and I was working as a scout for Bayern Munich in South America at the time. I saw the player who was, I don't know, 15 or 16, playing against guys who were 19 or 20. I thought 'for God's sake, that guy is a phenomenon!’”, he told.

However, he detailed that there were a couple of reasons why the German club's officials ended up not trying to convince Neymar to join them. "I went back to find out who this guy really was and he was already earning €30,000 a month. I said, 'guys, you're going to have to give him a very expensive contract because if at 15 years old he already earns 30 thousand' (...) He had security around him. The moment he entered the field, the security was there, when he left the field, the guard was there too. I said 'I don't think he's for us, but he's a great player'," said the former Bayern scout.
