Manchester City has just announced the signing of Argentina wonder kid Claudio Echeverri. Echeverri will be the second player in the Man City squad who showed potential at River Plate and was signed by the Premier League champions. Manchester City signed Julian Alvarez from River Plate in January 2022, and he stayed with River Plate on loan for six months.

Julian Alvarez's debut season for Man City was last season, and he did not disappoint. He scored 17 goals and provided five assists with very little game time due to Erling Haaland's amazing season. This season, Alvarez had to step up for a bigger role since Kevin De Bruyne and Haaland were suffering from injuries. This season, Alvarez scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions for Man City.

Alvarez was sent out on loan for six months after signing with Man City in the 2022 winter transfer window. This time, Echeverri will stay on loan with River Plate for a year. Echeverri will look to be included in the first-team Man City squad in January 2025. Echeverri impressed in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in late 2023. Echeverri secured fourth place for Argentina in the U-17 World Cup, finishing first in their group and scoring five goals.

His teammate Agustin Ruberto was the top goalscorer of the tournament with eight goals. Echeverri plays an attacking midfielder role and is said to have dribbling traits similar to Lionel Messi's. Echeverri's best performance in the U-17 World Cup was against Brazil's U-17 team, where he scored a hat trick in Argentina's 3-0 win over their fiercest rivals.
