Liverpool and Manchester City are looking forward to the summer transfer window to sign one of the best midfielders in the world. Both Liverpool and Man City are looking to improve or add more quality in their midfield to compete for more trophies next season. The Bundesliga is where the two Premier League clubs are looking at and hope to get a deal done before a bidding war starts.

Liverpool did a rebuild this summer in their midfield positions. Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, and James Milner left the club and were vital players for Jurgen Klopp in his midfield. Milner was sold for his age, as well as Jordan Henderson. Fabinho was still crucial in the system at 29, while Keita was injury-prone and couldn't recover quickly for games.

Liverpool brought in Dominik Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo. After a few months of adaptation, Endo has become an important defensive midfielder in the team, while the other three can play as progressive midfielders. Thiago Alcantara is also in the squad but is very injury-prone, and Klopp would like to replace Thiago with a new midfielder this summer.

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are known for their possession-based football and also had a little rebuild in the squad. Ilkay Gundogan and Cole Palmer were two midfielders that left the club. Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes came in this summer, and while Kovacic has been used often in the squad, Nunes has not delivered expectations. Man City is looking to bring in another quality center midfielder who can play many positions.

Liverpool and Man City are interested in signing Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich

Liverpool and Manchester City have been linked with Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich. The German midfielder's contract with Bayern ends in 2025, and the player is open to leave the club. Kimmich has yet to be offered a contract extension, but the German club does not want to let him leave for free. Kimmich is worth around 75 million euros, and a deal for a cheaper price is possible due to his contract running out.
