Lionel Messi and Argentina find out a new opponent for the Copa America this summer.

Argentina is the current Copa America and World Cup champions, and they're easily the favorites to win this summer's tournament. Argentina is in group A, where they already know they are facing Chile and Peru. The team that was yet to be defined was the winner between Canada and Trinidad and Tobago. Yesterday, in the playoff to qualify for the Copa America, Canada defeated Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 in the Toyota Stadium. Larin and Shaffelburg scored the two goals for the Canadian and will be a part of Argentina's group. Canada will also be Argentina's first opponent in the Copa America this summer.

Argentina will play Canada at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on June 20th. Then Argentina play against Chile at the MetLife Stadium on June 25th. Their last group stage game will be against Peru at the Hard Rock Stadium on June 29th. Lionel Messi will be playing against one of the best young players in the world, Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies.

Davies spoke after the game and it was mentioned that he has played against Messi three times and has won all of them. When asked if he will be looking to win against Messi for the fourth time, Davies said, "I'm happy to play against the best player in the world and to be able to win with my team, but it's a team effort, not one-on-one competition. Playing with country is a different animal. They have just won the World Cup, so they have all the confidence in the world. It's going to be a tough game against the world champions, and honestly there's nothing that has not been said about them that I can say, they are a top team."

Argentina is scheduled for another friendly this Tuesday against Costa Rica and a few days before the Copa America against Guatemala. Argentina only lost one game since winning the 2022 World Cup and it was a 2-0 loss against Uruguay.
