After earlier reports of a possible switch of teams for former Manchester City CEO, Manchester United announced Omar Berrada as their new CEO. According to sources close to the club, Joel and Avram Glazer made this appointment in consultation with Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Manchester United considers him one of the most experienced football executives for his work at Manchester City and FC Barcelona. The statement reads, "As one of the most experienced football executives at the top of European football, Omar [Berrada] brings a wealth of football and commercial expertise, with a proven record of successful leadership and a passion to help lead change across the Club. He is currently serving as Chief Football Operations Officer for City Football Group overseeing 11 clubs across five continents and, prior to this, held senior roles at [FC] Barcelona."

Man United believes that this appointment will lead them to become a "title-winning club again" and wants to see his services used for next season. With a sporting director still on the club's wishlist, United is on course to have a big summer in terms of transfers and business.

With the 115 charges Manchester City are currently facing, many Man United fans were concerned if he had something to do with those charges. Times Sport reports that Omar Berrada did not play any role in the sponsorship and salary deals that have led to Manchester City being charged with 115 alleged rule breaches by the Premier League. He was involved in developing the Man City academy and signing Erling Haaland in 2022.

Omar Berrada will start his new CEO role at Manchester United in the summer

Omar Berrada will not begin his new role as CEO of Manchester United right away as he has to be approved by the Premier League. Man United's statement says, "Omar’s [Berrada] start date will be confirmed in due course; in the meantime, Patrick Stewart will continue as interim CEO."

Man United fans are very excited about this appointment as he has a positive track record of getting good transfer deals done. He did a great job dealing with the football and business sides of Man City over the past decade, and he will look to the same for Man United, who has needed a change in the sporting board at the club for many years.
