Lucho Diaz gets Liverpool closer to the EFL Cup final in the first half v Fulham
Luis Diaz gives Liverpool the early lead in the second leg of the EFL Cup semifinal.
Fulham hosts Liverpool in the second leg of the EFL Carabao Cup semifinal. Fulham needs to make a comeback in this game to advance to the EFL Cup final. Liverpool got an early free kick, and the cross met a Luis Diaz header that caused no danger and went wide. Liverpool had most of the possession and looked on the more dangerous side. This opposed Liverpool’s early few minutes against Bournemouth since the Reds started slow.
Fulham tried to get more of the ball, but the intensity and press from the Liverpool team was too much for them. Liverpool were looking to score first and were not holding onto the ball. Liverpool was comfortable on the pitch in Craven Cottage and was looking for Fulham to push up to punish them on a counterattack.
Darwin Nunez took the first shot on target after dribbling from the left, cutting inside, and shooting a tame shot that Leno easily caught. Fulham got the first dangerous shot on target as an attempted cross by Castagne was going on target; Kelleher saved the ball and sent it for a corner. Palhinha was by himself in the box as the ball reached him, but he skied his volley over the net. Fulham got close again after a cross by Robinson was cleared by Kelleher's hand.
Liverpool makes it 1-0 against Fulham in the first 15 minutes at Craven Cottage
Luis Diaz scored the opener for Liverpool in the 11th minute after a great ball by Jarell Quansah. The Colombian cut inside and took a near post where Leno took a touch on it but couldn't stop the ball from going in. Liverpool takes a bigger lead in the aggregate score to 3-1. It was a goal from out of nowhere after Fulham had a few chances.
