Willian scored in the 19th minute of the game, and Fulham was close to getting a second in the first half. Darwin Nunez came in the second half and changed the game for Liverpool. The Uruguayan got two assists in three minutes as Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo were the goalscorers for Liverpool that day. Jones took a shot from outside the box that deflected over Leno. Nunez ran from the left side to pass the ball to an open Gakpo, who finished the chance.

Nunez also had a chance to score a third goal for Liverpool, but Leno made the vital save for Fulham. Liverpool would beat Bournemouth 4-0 in the Premier League and remain top of the table with a 5-point advantage over Manchester City.

Fulham also played over the weekend as they played Chelsea at Stamford Bridge for the Premier League. Fulham lost 1-0 from a late first-half penalty by Cole Palmer. Fulham are 13th in the league with 24 points and are eight points off the relegation zone.
