Liverpool smash Sparta Prague 5-1 and has a foot in the QF of the Europa League

Liverpool makes it look easy against Sparta Prague in the Europa League as they win 5-1 at the epet ARENA. It was the 1st leg of the Europa League round of 16, and Liverpool took a big step towards the competition's quarter-finals. Next week, the second leg will be played in Anfield.

Liverpool threatened Sparta Prague's goal from the first minute. This led to a penalty in the 5th minute in favor of Liverpool. Alexis Mac Allister is clipped in the box, and he wouldn't take the penalty. Mac Allister sends the keeper the wrong way and sends the ball into the bottom left corner to give Liverpool the early lead. Sparta Prague showed fight and created some chances that should've been the equalizer. Sparta Prague paid for not converting those chances as Liverpool scored their second.

In the 25th minute, Darwin Nunez scores from outside the box, and his shot goes into the net in the middle of the net. His shot was from 30 yards out, and the strike was too much for the Prague keeper to handle. Late in the first half, Mac Allister finds Nunez running towards the box and smashes the ball to the bottom left corner to make it 3-0 at halftime. This goal was the 1,000th goal for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp.

At the start of the second half, Sparta Prague scared the Reds as they got a goal back early. Conor Bradley was substituted onto the pitch in the second half and unexpectedly scored an own goal. The score was 3-1, and the hosts believed in trying to pull a miracle, but Liverpool was too strong.

Luis Diaz and Szoboszlai put the game to bed as Liverpool won 5-1

Luis Diaz scored the fourth goal for Liverpool in the 53rd minute. Harvey Elliott assisted his second goal of the game as Diaz scored in the box, which a Sparta defender deflected. The home side tried to score many times, but Liverpool also did. Mohamed Salah played his first game since Brentford and even scored late, but it was ruled off for offside.

The fifth goal arrived in the last minutes of the game when Dominik Szoboszlai dribbled into open space and took a low shot that went into the net to score. Liverpool won 5-1 and look at a great place to advance to the next round.
