The Champions League and Real Madrid are linked to each other as the club has won the most Champions League trophies out of any team in the competition's history. Real Madrid won 14 Champions League trophies, and the team is always marked as the favorite to win it every year. This year is no different, as the team has only lost two games in all competitions so far, which is an impressive stat. Real Madrid is shining in La Liga as they are the current leaders with 66 points and only have one loss in the league. Despite advancing to the quarter-finals, many football fans were left unimpressed by their performance against RB Leipzig.

Real Madrid won 2-1 on aggregate against RB Leipzig as they won 1-0 in the first leg away from home and drew 1-1 at home yesterday. While the team is in the last 8 of the competition, the performance was not to the standards the club wanted. RB Leipzig created far more chances at the Santiago Bernabeu than Real Madrid. Leipzig looked as the more threatening team but couldn't convert their chances.

The Real Madrid fans at the stadium booed the players for the poor performance even though they advanced to the next round. Carlo Ancelotti was not happy with his team's performance and said that it was bad. Antonio Rudiger expressed the same feelings Real Madrid fans felt after the game. Rudiger said, "We were sloppy, we were slow, played zero intensity, we didn't get in the challenges, and you get punished for this in the Champions League. This time we are through, but we have things to talk about.”

Jamie Carragher doesn't think Real Madrid can compete for the Champions League trophy

Jamie Carragher talked about Real Madrid's performance and said other teams have a better chance of winning the Champions League. Carragher said, "The aura of the Bernabeu and Real Madrid probably get them through. RB Leipzig were by far the dominant team over both legs. Real Madrid’s aura & Bernabéu got them through. It doesn't bode well in terms to winning the Champions League. Real Madrid are a long way short of Manchester City, & maybe Inter Milan & Arsenal. Real Madrid aren't up there among the best teams in Europe right now."
