Liverpool is desperate for a new center-back since Joel Matip suffered a cruciate ligament injury that caused him to miss the rest of the season. Liverpool has counted on Virgil Van Dijk, Konate, and Quansah as the only natural center-backs in the first team. Liverpool want to sign a new defender in the winter transfer window but are looking at cheaper options to save some money. They were interested in names like Goncalo Inacio and Marc Guehi. Liverpool fans hope to sign one this winter because of the number of games coming up.

Tottenham have already bought in this transfer window but look to save money to then buy in the summer. Spurs signed Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig and Radu Dragusin from Genoa. Werner was signed to cover Hueng-Min Son while he was gone with South Korea, and Radu was brought to cover Mickey Van de Ven, who has now come back from injury. Spurs were playing with Emerson and Davies as the center-backs for the majority of December due to injuries and suspensions. Spurs will look to get the same target in December for more cover. There is a reason why both clubs look to buy the Bundesliga defender in the summer rather than the winter.
