Lionel Messi's Inter Miami beats Real Salt Lake 2-0 in MLS opener

The game is over! Inter Miami managed to defeat Real Salt Lake in the first match of Major League Soccer 2024. David Beckham's team won thanks to a spectacular Lionel Messi, and a great Luis Suarez despite the fact that neither of them scored a goal.

Lionel Messi assisted Robert Taylor to make it 1-0, and Luis Suarez did the same with Diego Gomez, for the final 2-0. Thus, Inter Miami added the first three points of the season... it is worth remembering that Inter Miami failed to qualify for the MLS playoffs last season, and this season that is the main objective.

“The key is that Lionel does not have so much wear and tear and that he receives the ball in the final meters, in an almost defining zone, as he is 15 meters behind any footballer. The worst thing that can happen to us is that he doesn't touch the ball. We have a gear that we can adapt quickly to the place where he ends up, to be able to recover the ball with some urgency.”
