This includes world class footballers like Vinicius Jr, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Kylian Mbappe, acknowledging the Los Angeles Lakers small forward.

Although James does not earn the biggest salary in the NBA, he is still the richest basketball player in the league. Front Office Sports reports that Stephen Curry from the Golden State Warriors earns the most in the NBA with a compensation of $51.9 million. James is tied in second with Nikola Jokic from the Denver Nuggets and Joel Embiid from the Philadelphia 76ers. All three players earn a compensation of $47.6 million.

James earns more from off-the-field compensation. Forbes announced that James became the first active athlete billionaire last June as his net worth continues to increase past the $1 billion mark. James has a stake in Fenway Sports Group, which owns sports teams in the Boston Red Sox, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Liverpool FC. James is known to show support for Liverpool in the Premier League since he owns 2% of the ownership since he purchased it back in 2011.

James also earns from other investments such as Lobos 1707 tequila, Canyon Bicycles, Neutral Foods, and Mitchell & Ness. With off-the-field investments and his salary together, he earned $119.5 million last year, the most out of any NBA player. This still doesn't surpass one of the best footballers in the world, Kylian Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe is one of the richest footballers in the world and was one of the three to overtake LeBron last year. On the field, he made $100 million, but off the field, he made 20 million, putting him at a total of $120 million, according to Forbes. Mbappe has player image rights and was the first player ambassador for Sorare, a football fantasy game that requires cryptocurrency.
