Football or soccer is the most watched sport across the world. Here in the US, it is one of the biggest sports people watch, not the biggest sport. Although it isn't the most followed sport in the US, some of the biggest stars from the most followed sports do watch European football. One of those big star athletes is NBA player Joel Embiid.

The Cameroonian center of the Philadelphia 76ers is known to follow football and is a big fan of Arsenal FC and Real Madrid. In an old interview, Embiid admitted to being a Real Madrid fan and claimed Cristiano Ronaldo to be his favorite player. He also says that Lionel Messi is the best player in history, despite being a Ronaldo fan. Joel Embiid has taken pictures with Kylian Mbappe in the past and joked recently about bringing Mbappe to Arsenal or Real Madrid.

Under an Instagram post of Mbappe's, Embiid commented, "Waiting for you in a Real Madrid jersey." When asked about what Arsenal needs to win the Premier League this season, he jokingly said, " Kidnap Kylian Mbappe; I can try and convince him, but you know, Madrid is right up there."

Joel Embiid talks about an alternative universe in which he is better than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

In an interview with Men in Blazers, the Cameroonian was asked if he could have been a football star. Embiid says, "At seven feet, I don’t think so. Even in goalkeepers, I don’t think I’d be good at seven feet. But, yeah, an alternate universe where Joel is better than Messi and Ronaldo? Yeah, for sure. I watch football because I love it, and I grew up watching it and loving it, but I think I also love football because it’s a dream that I was never able to accomplish. I want to feel what it’s like. I want to be part of it.”
