La Liga or Premier League? Carlo Ancelotti compares the two leagues

La Liga and the Premier League are two of the best European leagues currently and over the past two decades. Many football fans debate which league is the best between the two. La Liga usually includes the best players in the world, while the Premier League is praised for being very competitive amongst most of the teams. Players and managers who have played or coached in both leagues are regarded as some of the best in football. One of the coaches who has managed in the Premier League and La Liga is current Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti joined the Premier League in 2009 when he was appointed as the manager of Chelsea. In his first season, Ancelotti won the Premier League with Chelsea. He left Chelsea in 2011 to join PSG. He then was appointed by Real Madrid to coach in La Liga in 2013. He didn't win La Liga in his first two years there, but he did win 'La Decima' with Real Madrid in 2014 when they defeated Atletico Madrid 4-1 in the Champions League final.

He returned to the Premier League in 2019 to coach Everton but left in 2021. He returned to Real Madrid in 2021 and finally won his first La Liga title in the 2021/22 season. Now, with experience in coaching both La Liga and the Premier League, he explains the differences between both leagues and says that one of them is tactically better.

Ancelotti says La Liga is tactically better than the Premier League

In an interview with Diario AS, Carlo Ancelotti spoke about both La Liga and the Premier League. Ancelotti said, "Premier League or La Liga? It’s different. This doesn’t mean better or worse. On a tactical level, La Liga is much better than the English one. If we talk about intensity, rhythm, the English league may have more. But the Spanish has more tactical quality.”
