Real Madrid are currently facing a few penalties for controversial events on the pitch. Real Madrid players were really angry with the referee of the game against Valencia this past weekend, which led to the club and Jude Bellingham paying fines. Bellingham received a red card after the game ended and will not face a 2-match ban in La Liga. The English player will also pay a fine of around $700. The club will pay a fine of over $720. While the club deals with this issue in trying to appeal the decision, their manager, Carlo Ancelotti, could face a worse situation.

Ancelotti has coached Real Madrid in the past, and the first time he was in charge as the manager was from 2013 to 2015. He returned to the Spanish giants in 2021 and remains in charge until his contract runs out in 2026. Relevo reports that the Prosecutor's Office requests almost five years in prison for Carlo Ancelotti for defrauding 1 million euros in 2014 & 2015. The sentence would be exactly four years and nine months, and in US dollars, it would be around $1.09 million.

Guillermo Rai from the Athletic reports that Real Madrid are taking a stand in defense of Carlo Ancelotti, comparing his case to that of Xabi Alonso, who was acquitted after an intense and lengthy legal battle with the Spanish Public Prosecutor's Office.

ESPN reporter Adriana Garcia reports that the Spanish state prosecutor alleged that Ancelotti committed two counts of tax fraud from 2014 to 2015 related to money earned from image rights. Ancelotti allegedly "omitted the income corresponding to the exploitation of his image rights that he had transferred to other entities." He allegedly failed to account for over $1.09 million in image rights money.

Garcia reports that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were found guilty of tax fraud in 2016 and 2019, respectively. Both players agreed to pay a high fine to avoid jail time.
