How Mauricio Pochettino compares Messi and Neymar to his Chelsea players
Chelsea's manager Mauricio Pochettino mentioned Lionel Messi and Neymar to his players.
Chelsea once again got a poor result at home in the Premier League as they drew 2-2 with Burnley. Chelsea took the lead in the game on two occasions, but Burnley equalized quickly. Chelsea fans are upset with the poor result, remaining 11th in the Premier League table with 40 points. Their next game in the Premier League is against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, and they would need a huge result if they want to climb the table and get close to them. Chelsea's manager, Mauricio Pochettino, was talking after the game about his thoughts, and when he was asked about a certain player, he referred to Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Mauricio Pochettino spoke after the game and expressed his disappointment about the result against Burnley. Pochettino said, "So disappointed. We didn't show the consistency and the capacity to deal with and manage the game. We allowed them some actions from set pieces to get some possibility to believe. It is a result that shows that we need to improve in many areas if we want to be competitive."
Pochettino talks about the team creating lots of chances but not converting them. Pochettino said, "We played well, yes. We created chances, yes. I think we are one of the teams that create most chances in the Premier League. But there are two phases in the game, with the ball, and without the ball, and without the ball today, we didn't have the hunger, the energy, and the capacity to be strong and defend when it's necessary."
Pochettino mentions Messi and Neymar when talking about Chelsea's penalty taker
Pochettino was asked if Cole Palmer is now the main penalty taker for Chelsea and if he would give the ball to other players. Pochettino said, "If he decides to give the ball to another player, I cannot go onto the pitch to say no, or I’ll get a red card. He is a specialist, shooting really well, but it is a decision on the pitch, depending on the circumstances. It is about who is on the pitch. I could say 1, 2, 3, like in Paris [Saint-Germain] with Neymar, [Lionel] Messi and Sergio Ramos.”
