Eden Hazard is a legendary player who has recently retired from football after finishing the 2022/2023 season with Real Madrid. Hazard did not succeed with the Spanish giants as he did with Chelsea, but now, due to Real Madrid advancing to another Champions League Final, the Spanish club will have to pay more than $6 million to Chelsea. According to the Telegraph, Chelsea will receive around $6.5 million thanks to a transfer clause from Eden Hazard, despite his retirement. Real Madrid's qualification for the Champions League final activates the clause from 2019. Hazard signed for Real Madrid from Chelsea in 2019 for around $145.7 million.

The Telegraph wrote that "Hazard was sold to Real [Madrid] in 2019 for a £130 million package with more than £40 million in add-ons dependent on performance, with the latest triggered after Carlo Ancelotti’s team got past Bayern Munich to get within one victory of being crowned European champions." Hazard won the Champions League with Real Madrid in the 2021/2022 season after they defeated Liverpool 1-0 in the final at the Stade de France.

The former Belgian winger has played a total of 76 matches for Real Madrid since he joined in the summer of 2019 till last year. He scored seven goals and provided 12 assists during his entire time with the Spanish giants. Apart from the Champions League, he won with Real Madrid in 2022; he also won two La Liga trophies, one UEFA Super Cup, one Copa del Rey, and one Spanish Super Cup. Many Real Madrid fans were disappointed with his performances with the team since he was regarded as one of the best players in the world during his last season with Chelsea.

Eden Hazard during his time at Chelsea

Hazard is considered a Chelsea legend since he performed his best with the Blues throughout his career. Hazard made a total of 352 appearances with Chelsea, scoring a total of 110 goals and providing 85 assists. He won two Premier League titles, two Europa League titles, one FA Cup, and one English League Cup with Chelsea. In his last season with Chelsea, Hazard played a total of 52 matches in all competitions, scoring 21 goals and providing 17 assists.
