While on the other side of Madrid, you have a manager who has never been afraid to show his emotion or to have a confrontation. Passion would be a good word to describe Simeone as he is a very passionate man, and it is an emotion he tries to push onto his players when they go on the pitch. And there is no fixture which Simeone shows more passion for than the Madrid Derby. Since taking over Atleti, no club has been a bigger thorn to Diego Simeone than Real Madrid. Countless exits to them in Champions League or Copa del Rey have intensified the rivalry between the two. And while Cristiano Ronaldo used to be the main talking point of the derby when it came to the players, it is now Madrid’s new number seven who is the talking point.

Vinicius does not have the best of history with the rival club Atleti and their fans, and he has faced tons of abuse off the pitch from them. And on the pitch that drama continues and feeds into Vini’s emotions. Yesterday the two clubs met in the round of 16 of the Copa Del Rey. Atletico exacted revenge on Los Blancos after last week’s Super Cup loss by beating Real Madrid 4-2 in extra time.

However, the main talking point drifted away from the match and instead of focusing on Antoine Griezmann’s wonder goal the focus shifted on Simeone and Vinicius. The two would get into an altercation where Vinicius held seven fingers up, and Simeone responded back with the same gesture but also responded with some undisclosed words of his own.
